RO4 - Experimentation in assistive environments and final TRL definition of the demo

Purposes

Testing in real scenarios the HABITAT platform behavior and its relative smart objects in specific environment, where users and stakeholders use them and interact with them. Particularly it is expected to test:
  • satisfaction of needs individuated and described in the briefing (realization objective 1)
  • if the platform could be integrated and the operativity of sensors and actuators developed into industrial products
  • the final TRL level

Expected activities

1. Realization of a prototype of domestic hub: from the result of realization objective 1 and realization objective 3, it will be finalized the case design and the domestic hub (that is the net gateway) design. The case, in a first attempt modeled with CAD 3D will be realized with digital printing, with materials which have mechanical and aesthetic characteristic similar to the final product. 

2. Preparation of terminal prototypes of smart objects: it will be finalized the smart object design get from integration of sensors and actuators into objects received from partner companies. Particularly it will be finalized the design of these objects:
  • chair (case with net devices, identification and monitoring sensors)
  • library (case with radar and net devices)
  • radio (case with net devices, identification sensors and vocal synthesis actuator)
  • smart watch (case with identification and monitoring sensors, RFID tag)
It will be planned the modifications to do to the initial objects or, where it will be needed, it will be redesigned a part or the entire object. On the base of the redesign project, it will be modified the product in collaboration with partner companies in order to get daily use objects which work and could interoperate.

3. Individuation and preparation of test environments: to this activity will collaborate also ASC InSieme staff with technical personnel and with users for defining the activities of data collection.

4. Execution of the test on smart objects prototypes and on the IoT platform into selected environment from realization objective 1. In fact, after the integration into furniture (or into clothes), the prototypes will be test in the final configuration.

5. Elaboration of the data collected during the tests and verification of correspondence to the needs analysis. Basing on direct observations, interviews and the elaboration of the collected data it will proceed to the evaluation of the needs satisfaction.

Expected results

1. Realization of working and interoperable prototypes.

2. Verification of the correspondence of the HABITAT system to the needs and requisites defined into realization objective 1.

2. Verification of the technological readiness level (TRL5).
